Inauguration Ceremony of the Turkmen–Uzbek Border Trade Center Held
After the completion of high-level Turkmen–Uzbek talks in Tashkent, President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated via digital communication in the opening ceremony of the Turkmen–Uzbek Border Trade Center. The event was attended by respected elders, representatives of public organizations, and residents of Dashoguz and Khorezm provinces.
Honored elders from both Turkmen and Uzbek sides spoke at the ceremony and requested the Heads of State to give their blessing for the opening of the Turkmen–Uzbek Border Trade Center. After President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave their blessing via teleconference, ceremonial ribbons at the entrances of both the Turkmen and Uzbek sections of the center were cut. At the same moment, musical and cultural performances by artists were showcased.
In recent years, direct cooperation between the regions of the two countries, including Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz province and Uzbekistan’s Khorezm province, has intensified. According to the intergovernmental Agreement on establishing and regulating the work of the Turkmen–Uzbek Border Trade Center, construction of the center was launched on 21 October 2022 during the official visit of the Uzbek Leader to Turkmenistan. The implementation of this important project opens wide opportunities for increasing trade turnover, attracting investments, facilitating experience exchange between entrepreneurs and economic entities of both states, and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
After the teleconference connecting Tashkent with Dashoguz and Khorezm provinces concluded, delegations of both countries visited the Turkmen and Uzbek sections of the border trade center, where they familiarized themselves with the organization of the facility and the goods offered to customers. During the ceremony, automobiles were presented to the Turkmen–Uzbek Border Trade Center on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
