Messi’s goal brings victory to the Argentina national team

A goal and an assist from Lionel Messi helped Argentina defeat Angola in a friendly match.

The game, held at the stadium in Luanda, ended 2–0. Lautaro Martínez opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, and Lionel Messi doubled the lead in the 82nd minute. Messi also provided an assist.

The match was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Angola’s independence.

Messi is a graduate of Barcelona’s academy. He played for the club’s first team from 2003 to 2021. During that period, he made 835 appearances and scored 709 goals. Messi won the UEFA Champions League four times with Barcelona, became world champion with Argentina in 2022, won the Copa América twice, and claimed the Ballon d’Or eight times.

In 2021, Messi left Barcelona and joined Paris Saint-Germain, where he spent two seasons. In 2023, he joined Inter Miami and in October 2025 extended his contract with the club until 2028.
