On 29 October 2026, the final training seminar and concluding meeting of the Steering Committee for a joint project of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Green Climate Fund will be held at the Archabil Hotel in Ashgabat.

The project aims to expand Turkmenistan’s capacity to attract international climate finance, support the sustainable development of agriculture and forestry, and promote the rational use of land resources.

During the seminar, particular attention will be paid to introducing modern tools for monitoring climate-related investments, strengthening the technical capacities of specialists working on climate change adaptation, and improving greenhouse gas emissions reporting in the agricultural sector.

At the meeting, experts will discuss the main results of the project. They also plan to agree on mechanisms for transferring the experience gained to relevant state institutions in Turkmenistan and identify priority areas for further cooperation with the Green Climate Fund.

The seminar’s outcomes are intended to help strengthen Turkmenistan’s institutional capacity to address climate change issues, promote sustainable development principles in agriculture and expand opportunities to access international climate finance.
