At the first session of Kazakhstan's newly established unicameral parliament, the Kurultai, an important decision was made regarding the election of its speaker. Aybek Dadebay, leader of the "Adilet" party, was elected to the position of Chairman of the Parliament.

Aybek Dadebay's candidacy was nominated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Deputies unanimously supported his candidacy during a secret ballot held at the first plenary session.

According to the voting results, a total of 145 ballots were distributed, of which 144 were cast in favor of Aybek Dadebay. Consequently, the relevant decision regarding his election as Chairman of the Kurultai was adopted.

46-year-old Aybek Dadebay has been leading the "Adilet" party since May 2026. Prior to his new appointment, he served as the Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan.

Following the Kurultai elections held in Kazakhstan on August 23, the "Adilet" party secured 110 out of the 145 deputy seats in the new legislative body. This outcome enabled the party to become one of the primary political forces in the unicameral parliament.

The election of Aybek Dadebay as Chairman of the Kurultai also marked the official commencement of the work of Kazakhstan's new parliament. Important tasks lie ahead for the new legislative body, such as improving the country's legal system and adopting relevant decisions on key directions of state development.
