A new agreement aimed at developing cooperation in the field of food security between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan has been approved. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree approving the agreement on cooperation in the field of food security between the governments of the two countries.

This was reported by the Azerbaijani news agency "Report".

According to the decree, after the agreement enters into force, the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan will carry out relevant work to ensure the implementation of its provisions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan was tasked with notifying the Government of Turkmenistan of the completion of the necessary domestic state procedures.

The agreement will create a legal framework for the exchange of information and experience between the two countries in the field of food security, the development of cooperation in relevant areas, and the further strengthening of relations in this sphere.

The relevant document was signed on June 22 of this year in the city of Baku with the participation of representatives of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

The approval of the new agreement will provide an opportunity to expand cooperation between the two countries in areas related to agriculture and food supply, as well as to develop joint efforts in ensuring food security.
