The cotton harvesting season is progressing at a high pace in Bereket etrap of Balkan velayat. The district’s tenant cotton growers are working hard to fulfil their contractual obligations successfully and increase labour productivity.

According to Gulatar Gazakov, chairman of the Bereket Etrap Association of Trade Unions of Balkan velayat, cotton was planted on 2,650 hectares in the district this year, with a target of delivering 3,260 tonnes of cotton to the state.

Cotton harvesting is now gathering momentum across the district. The “Turkmenistan” Farmers’ Association is among those taking a leading role in this effort. Its 74 tenant farmers work in four groups. Every year, they strive to exceed their contractual obligations for cotton deliveries to the state. Considerable attention is also being paid to the harvesting campaign at the Magtymguly, S.A. Niyazov and “Isgender” Farmers’ Associations.

Employees of the “Nusgawy Meydan” farm, which operates in Bereket etrap and is a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, are also demonstrating exemplary dedication in cotton cultivation. The farm aims to harvest 625 tonnes of cotton from 500 hectares planted with cotton.

According to last year’s results, the farm fulfilled its contractual obligations for wheat and cotton deliveries by 2.5 times the required amount. This year, its workers are once again labouring diligently in the fields to achieve high results.

A labour competition announced among cotton growers is also helping to accelerate the harvesting campaign. Recognizing and rewarding winners every ten days encourages tenant farmers to work even more productively. Based on the results of the current ten-day period, Perhat Garayev, a tenant farmer from the “Turkmenistan” Farmers’ Association, was named the winner.

He works in a team led by Geldimämmet Tutlykov, an experienced agricultural worker who has been awarded Turkmenistan’s “For Love of the Motherland” medal.

Cotton growers in Bereket etrap are joining forces to gather the planned harvest during the current season and successfully fulfil their obligations to the state.
