International cooperation on professional and experience exchange is developing between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Royal Customs Department of Malaysia.

On August 10–21, 2026, a representative of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan participated for the first time in an international training course held at the Royal Customs Academy — AKMAL in Melaka, Malaysia. The course titled "International Course for Senior Officer of Customs on Narcotics Identification and Narcotics Law Enforcement" was conducted within the framework of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP).

During the training, participants studied issues related to the detection of narcotic drugs and combating their illicit trafficking, risk management, profiling, conducting investigations, and applying modern methods of customs control.

One of the main focuses of the international training was the exchange of experience and the strengthening of professional relations among the customs authorities of the participating countries. The representative of Turkmenistan got acquainted with the working experience of the Royal Customs Department of Malaysia, the organization of customs control at international airports and seaports, as well as the use of modern technologies.

Along with enriching the international experience of Turkmenistan's customs specialists, this training opens up new opportunities for developing direct professional relations between the customs authorities of Turkmenistan and Malaysia.

Such international training programs help enhance the efficiency of customs control, master new methods, and further strengthen interstate cooperation in combating cross-border crime.
