International cooperation in studying advanced foreign experience and introducing modern educational methods in higher education institutions of Turkmenistan is developing with new directions. Within this framework, Professor Kennet Richter of the University of Guanajuato (Mexico) conducted professional development courses in the English language for university teachers in Ashgabat and Turkmenabat.

The visit of Professor Kennet Richter, who has been engaged in teaching activities in various countries of Asia and America for over 30 years, became an important step in establishing direct academic relations between the higher education institutions of the two countries.

As part of the two-week training program, special classes were organized for the academic staff of the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat and the Seyitnazar Seydi State Pedagogical Institute in the city of Turkmenabat.

During the 20-hour sessions, modern methods of teaching the English language, the use of communicative approaches in the educational process, and issues related to developing teachers' professional skills were discussed. Along with practically mastering modern teaching methods, participants familiarized themselves with the opportunities of utilizing foreign experience in their educational activities.

The program of the visit included not only professional courses, but also open meetings with Turkmen students and public representatives. At these meetings, views were exchanged on the characteristics of academic and higher education systems in Latin and North American countries, the work experience of educational institutions in various countries, and the opportunities of international academic relations.

The classes conducted by the Mexican specialist in Turkmenistan contributed to utilizing international experience in the higher education system and raising the professional level of teachers. Furthermore, these events demonstrated the interest of Turkmen higher education institutions in developing direct contacts with foreign scholars and educational institutions.

Professor Kennet Richter also highly praised the high interest of his Turkmen colleagues in professional development and their active participation in the educational process. He noted that there is a great interest in further developing cultural and academic dialogue in Turkmenistan.

The classes held with the representative of the University of Guanajuato (Mexico) became another example demonstrating the expansion of international cooperation in Turkmenistan's higher education system. Such academic exchanges create broad opportunities for introducing new teaching methods, improving the qualifications of teachers, and acquainting youth with foreign experience.
