Argentina national team World Cup champion Enso Fernandez will continue his career at Manchester City. The English club has officially confirmed the transfer of the Argentine midfielder.

The 25-year-old footballer has signed a five-year contract with his new club. According to Transfermarkt data, Manchester City will pay Chelsea 145 million euros for his transfer. This figure places the deal for Fernandez among the most expensive transfers in the history of the Manchester club.

Furthermore, this transfer renewed one of the highest transfer fee records in the world for central midfielders. Fernandez previously held this benchmark from early 2023 until the summer of 2026, when his transfer fee record was surpassed by English footballer Elliot Anderson. At that time, Manchester City paid Nottingham Forest 135 million euros for Anderson's transfer.

Fernandez made 170 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions, scoring 31 goals and providing 30 assists. With the London club, he won the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025.

Before joining Chelsea, the Argentine midfielder played for River Plate, Defensa y Justicia, and Portugal's Benfica. This new transfer marks the next major milestone in his European career.

Fernandez has earned 49 caps for the Argentina national team, scoring 8 goals and providing 6 assists. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he was named the tournament's Best Young Player.
