The higher education institution has completed the admission of its first students to the new specialty “Information Security of Automated Systems”.

Ahead of the new academic year, the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan admitted its first students to a new cybersecurity specialty. The “Information Security of Automated Systems” programme is aimed at training specialists needed to protect the country’s digital systems.

The widespread introduction of digital technologies in public administration, industry and the financial sector is increasing the importance of ensuring the security of information and automated systems. The growing number of cyberattacks worldwide is also increasing the demand for highly qualified specialists in this field.

The curriculum of the new specialty is designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practical training. Students will study methods of cryptographic information protection, principles of countering cyberattacks, network infrastructure security and the legal foundations of information protection.

Practical classes are planned to be held in specialised cybersecurity and cryptography laboratories. During their studies, students will also develop skills in using modern software to assess system security and identify vulnerabilities.

The introduction of the new specialty represents an important step in training information security specialists in line with the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan.

In the coming days, the first students admitted to the new programme will begin their classes. In the future, they will be able to work in protecting critical digital infrastructure at government institutions, industrial facilities and financial organisations.
