Specialists from the "Maryhydrogeology" expedition of the "Türkmengeologiýa" State Corporation are continuing their work to study and increase underground water reserves in the Mary and Lebap regions. This work is of vital importance in providing the population of these regions with clean drinking water.

The expedition's hydrogeologists and geologists are searching for groundwater deposits across the two regions, calculating their reserves, and continuously monitoring water conditions. In addition, hydrogeological, ecological, and engineering-geological studies are carried out to investigate the ecological condition of underground and surface waters, as well as soils.

Currently, drilling and exploration work is underway at a number of sites in the Mary Region, including Marymlyk (Tarymlyk), Sakarchage, Peshanaly, Murgap, Toreshyh, Tarhan, Kelche, Gundogar Bayramaly, Taze oba, and Sandykgachi, as well as at the Jynlygum, Zahmetkesh, Tahyrbay, and Narazym sites in the Lebap Region. The objective is to identify, study, and determine reserves of drinking water and therapeutic mineral waters.

By order of other enterprises, the expedition also performs work to study groundwater for technical purposes in the Ahal and Balkan regions. Exploration for iodine-bromine waters continues in accordance with an order from the iodine plant in the Bereket District of the Balkan Region.

The expedition's staff are working diligently to fulfill production tasks with high results. Hydrologists Gozel Allamyradova, Ilyas Bayramalyýew, Dowlet Bashimov, Malik Hanmammammedow, and drilling masters Dowran Annayev, Bashim Guyjov, and Serdar Orazov are contributing to the rise in production figures.

According to the head of the expedition, Amangylyç Çaryýew, the introduction of modern technologies and new equipment into production enhances the efficiency of exploration work. This year, the enterprise received two new drilling rigs manufactured in China, designed for drilling wells at a depth of 200–300 meters.

In the first seven months of 2026, instead of the planned 4,400 meters of core mechanical drilling, 16,054 meters of drilling work were completed. Thus, the relevant plan was fulfilled by 111.5 percent. Under contractual works, 2,411 meters were drilled.

The expedition aims to successfully fulfill the planned targets across all production indicators by the end of the year.
