Specialists from the National Institute of Deserts of Turkmenistan have launched autumn field expeditions, focusing primarily on studying the condition of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway sections running through sandy areas. Experts are examining landscape changes, wind-driven sand shifts, and potential threats to the road to develop practical safety recommendations.

An eco-friendly method being utilized is phytoremediation, which involves planting desert-adapted vegetation between specialized reed-made cells to reduce wind-blown sand movement. Given that the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway serves as a vital transport corridor connecting the capital with the country's eastern region, these scientific efforts are essential for securing reliable transit to the Lebap region.
