President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a letter of condolences to President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping following the natural disaster that occurred in the country’s Tibet Autonomous Region.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his condolences to President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping over the natural disaster that occurred in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China and resulted in serious consequences.

In his letter of condolences, the Head of State, on behalf of the people and Government of Turkmenistan, as well as personally, conveyed his deepest condolences and words of support to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives. He also wished a speedy recovery to those affected by the natural disaster.

The disaster occurred on August 26 in an area near the border between China and Nepal. The main cause of the natural event was the large-scale collapse of glaciers, followed by mudflows, landslides and flooding.

The natural disaster mainly affected Gyirong (Jilong) border county of the Tibet Autonomous Region and the surrounding mountainous areas. As a result of the descent of glacial masses and mudflows, several infrastructure facilities were damaged, residential buildings were destroyed, and traffic was disrupted on some sections of roads.

Search and rescue operations are currently continuing in the area declared a disaster zone. Special equipment and aviation resources have also been deployed in the operations.

The letter of condolences from the President of Turkmenistan was another expression of support for the Chinese people facing difficult circumstances as a result of the natural disaster, as well as a reflection of the friendly relations between the two countries.
