President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit.

The meeting discussed the current state of Turkmen-Tajik relations and prospects for their further development in various fields. This was reported in the "Watan" news program.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the opportunity to meet and noted that Tajikistan highly values the centuries-old friendly and fraternal relations with Turkmenistan. He also conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the kind words and conveyed his best wishes to the head of state of Tajikistan.

During the talks, the importance of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries was emphasized. A special place in this area is occupied by the activities of the Turkmen-Tajik intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation.

The sides noted that there are great opportunities for expanding partnerships in sectors such as energy, transport, and agriculture. It was also stressed that the cultural and humanitarian sphere plays an important role in further strengthening relations between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed confidence that the friendly and productive relations established between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan will continue to develop in the interests of the two fraternal peoples.
