The rice harvesting campaign is gaining momentum in the Dashoguz region. Alongside the region’s farmers’ associations, which play a leading role in rice production, private producers are also actively participating in these efforts.

Among the region’s major rice producers are the S.A. Niyazov and “October 27” farmers’ associations in the S. Turkmenbashi etrap. Local private enterprises are also making an increasingly significant contribution to rice production. One of them, the “Ykbal açary” economic society, cultivated rice on an area of 800 hectares this year.

Thanks to thorough preparations for the season and the proper organization of work, rice had been harvested from more than 600 hectares during the first days of the harvesting campaign. Modern, high-performance combine harvesters and other agricultural machinery required to transport the harvested grain are being used efficiently in these operations.

The main share of this year’s crop consists of the “Nukus-2” rice variety, which is well adapted to local climatic and soil conditions. This variety is distinguished by its high yield, disease resistance, and resistance to lodging and grain shattering. In addition, its taste characteristics help make it highly popular among consumers.

The Dashoguz region is one of Turkmenistan’s major rice-producing areas. All stages of production, from rice cultivation to deep processing, have been established here. The construction of a modern rice-cleaning facility equipped with advanced technologies in the S. Turkmenbashi etrap, near the rice-growing fields, is also expanding the production capacity of the sector.

This season, farmers in the region aim to harvest at least 35,000 tonnes of rice from their fields. Completing the harvesting operations within the established deadlines and to a high standard is essential to achieving this goal.
