The famous international auto rally titled "From the Danube to the Orkhon: East — West Silk Road", which takes place between April 28 and June 4 of this year, once again passed through the territory of Turkmenistan. The main goal of this major event, which brings together motorsport enthusiasts and travelers from different countries around the world, is to get closely acquainted with the historical-cultural values and rich heritage of the countries located along the ancient Great Silk Road, and to widely promote them on an international level.
The auto rally, which generated great interest, initially set off from the Republic of Türkiye and passed through the territories of Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The participants crossed the Caspian Sea by ship from the Baku International Sea Trade Port and arrived at the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi city.
The special route organized within the territory of our country created vast opportunities for the representatives of the international rally sport to closely experience the centuries-old history, unique unrepeatable nature, and great tourism potential of Turkmenistan. During the trip, guests from various parts of the world visited the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone, which is the pearl of the Caspian Sea, the "Yangykala" canyon, considered a unique natural beauty, the city of Balkanabat, and the famous "Kow-Ata" underground lake.
Furthermore, the rally participants toured the magnificent buildings of our white-marbled capital city, Ashgabat, the "Glow of the Karakum" gas crater, which is located in the heart of the Karakum Desert and attracts the attention of world tourists, as well as the beautiful sites of Dashoguz velayat.
Having successfully completed its impressive cultural and sports program in Turkmenistan, the caravan of the international auto rally headed toward the neighboring Republic of Uzbekistan through the "Koneurgench" border checkpoint for vehicles in Dashoguz velayat.
