Around 5,000 residents of Türkiye’s Tokat Province have sought medical assistance after experiencing similar symptoms. The report was published by rg.ru, citing information from the provincial governor.
According to the report, since October 9, residents have been seeking medical care in large numbers, reporting symptoms including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.
So far, approximately 70 people have been hospitalised. Of these, 40 were discharged after receiving the necessary medical treatment, while the remaining 30 continue to receive care. According to the provincial governor, the lives of those hospitalised are not in danger.
To determine the cause of the situation, local authorities have sent drinking water samples to Türkiye’s Ministry of Health for testing in Ankara. The results are currently awaited.
Sanitation and hygiene measures are also being carried out across the region, including in schools. The provincial governor said there was currently no reason for the public to panic.
Further information about the exact cause of the illness and its source of spread is expected after the results of the official investigations are announced.
