With the aim of modernizing the work of football referees in Turkmenistan and increasing the accuracy of decisions made during matches, special training courses on the implementation of the VAR system have been launched.
The Refereeing Department of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan, in cooperation with the Uzbekistan Football Association, is conducting theoretical and practical classes dedicated to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system for national championship referees.
The training, running from August 31 to September 4, is attended by experienced specialists from the Asian Football Confederation — VAR instructor-specialist Jahongir Saidov and VAR operator Shirali Janaliyev.
During the five-day program, referees and technical specialists are being introduced to the operating principles and technical capabilities of the VAR system, as well as methods for video analysis and the correct evaluation of controversial game moments during football matches.
Along with theoretical knowledge, special attention is paid to practical training sessions during the course. This allows local specialists to improve their experience in effectively utilizing the new system.
The introduction of the VAR system is aimed at improving the quality of refereeing in Turkmenistan's national championship and Cup matches, providing a more accurate assessment of critical game moments, and strengthening the objectivity of referees' decisions. Such efforts will also help bring refereeing in Turkmen football closer to international standards.
