On the first day of the 6th World Nomad Games held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, the national team of Turkmenistan performed successfully, winning one gold and one bronze medal.
The Turkmen athletes' medals were won in national wrestling events in the weight category above 100 kilograms.
Annagurban Allaberdiyev demonstrated a high result in the competitions featuring Turkmen national wrestling. In the final match, he defeated the host country's athlete, Asankeldi Nurkazym of Kyrgyzstan, to claim the gold medal. The Kyrgyz athlete was awarded the silver medal, while representatives from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan secured the bronze medals.
Kemal Kemalov added another medal to the Turkmenistan team's treasury. He took third place in kurash in the weight category above 100 kilograms. Numonjon Razhabov of Uzbekistan became the champion in this category, Sadegh Azarang of Iran took second place, and the other bronze medal went to a Kyrgyz athlete.
Cash prizes were also presented to the medalists of the competitions. The reward amounted to 100,000 soms for gold medalists, 80,000 soms for silver medalists, and 50,000 soms for bronze medalists.
The 6th World Nomad Games are taking place in Cholpon-Ata from August 31 to September 6. Athletes from over 100 countries around the world are participating in this major international sports forum, competing in 43 ethnosport disciplines.
Held biennially, this major international event plays a crucial role in developing national sports and widely promoting the ancient traditions and cultural heritage of peoples to the global community.
