Turkmen hockey players to compete for victory on African ice rinks
The national ice hockey team of Turkmenistan is intensely preparing for the Group A matches of the World Championship Division III, which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from April 13 to 19. The main goal of our athletes is to win the tournament and earn promotion to the second division.
In the race for the gold medal, the Turkmenistan team will face teams from the following countries:
- South Africa (hosts)
- Mexico
- Türkiye
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Thailand
Currently, our national team is undergoing the final stage of tactical and physical training in Ashgabat. As the team captain, Aman Annanyyazov, noted, the squad consists entirely of players from the local hockey school, and they are fully prepared to achieve a high result. The athletes will travel over 10,000 kilometers via Istanbul to reach the African continent.
Turkmen hockey players already managed to win gold medals in the third division of the world championship in 2018. This year's championship is a crucial opportunity to repeat that historic success and further raise the prestige of national sports at the international level.
