A meeting with representatives of "PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd" and the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS was held at the Yagshygeldy Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas. The meeting focused on discussing issues related to training highly qualified personnel for the oil and gas sector, developing research activities, and expanding cooperation between higher education institutions.

During the meeting, the rector of the university provided the guests with detailed information about the university's faculties, departments, training areas and specialties, as well as achievements in educational and scientific fields.

It was noted that in the modern era, improving the science and education system in accordance with the requirements of the times, ensuring that youth receive modern education, and introducing advanced global experience into the educational process are among the most important tasks. In this regard, the Yagshygeldy Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas consistently develops cooperation with prestigious foreign universities and major companies.

The meeting also touched upon online classes conducted for Turkmen students and teachers regarding advanced technologies and modern equipment used in the oil and gas industry. Furthermore, it was noted that university students participate in summer industrial internships at the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in Malaysia.

It was emphasized that the legal framework of bilateral cooperation is also being consistently strengthened. On November 13, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Yagshygeldy Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas, "Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd", and the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. This document became one of the important foundations for continuing mutually beneficial cooperation between the parties in the field of science and education.

At the meeting, Akmal Niza Ahmad, PETRONAS Director of Education and Human Capital Investments, highly praised the partnership established between the Turkmen higher education institution and the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, which is one of the prestigious engineering higher education institutions in Malaysia and Asia.

He expressed interest in expanding cooperation to jointly develop research activities, conduct studies on common scientific topics, and publish prepared articles in international indexed scientific journals.

It was also announced that online and face-to-face classes involving professors from Malaysia's Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS will continue in fields such as oil and gas, geology, chemical technology, and digital systems.

The meeting demonstrated that there are new opportunities to elevate Turkmen-Malaysian scientific and educational relations to a new level, improve the professional training of young specialists, and expand scientific and technological cooperation in the oil and gas sector. The continuation of such a partnership will contribute to the exchange of experience between the universities of the two countries and the implementation of joint international scientific projects.
