Turkmen-Russian Cooperation: New Heights of Friendly and Strategic Relations
On April 7, a telephone conversation was held between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko. This conversation, initiated by the Turkmen side, became another testament to the high level of trust between the two countries.
The Hero-Arkadag first congratulated Valentina Matviyenko on her birthday, wishing her sound health and success in her state activities. The National Leader specifically noted that the head of the Russian parliament enjoys great respect in Turkmenistan as a wise politician and a close friend of our country. High praise was also given to her services in strengthening international peace and increasing the diplomatic activity of women.
Inter-parliamentary and International Cooperation
During the conversation, the parties reviewed important areas of strategic partnership. Key points highlighted:
- CIS Presidency: It was emphasized that this year Turkmenistan holds the presidency of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Russian side pays great attention to the planned forums.
- Avaza Forum: Views were exchanged regarding the Women's Dialogue, the demography conference, and the events of the CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly to be held in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone in October.
- International Initiatives: The active participation of the Turkmen delegation in significant projects such as the "Train of Memory" and the "Commonwealth of Fashion" was showcased as a practical result of friendly relations.
New Horizons of Cultural and Humanitarian Ties
The National Leader noted the importance of preserving the shared historical heritage. To bring cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science, education, and art to a new level, attention was drawn to the following projects:
- Work on the establishment of the Turkmen-Russian University.
- Construction of a new building for the A.S. Pushkin Drama Theatre in Ashgabat.
- Immortalizing Great Personalities: The installation of a monument to Magtymguly Pyragy in Russia, and monuments to A.S. Pushkin and F.M. Dostoevsky in Turkmenistan, serve as symbols of the spiritual closeness of the two nations.
