On 12 October 2026, the 77th session of the Executive Committee of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees opened at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. The Turkmen delegation, led by A. Sazakov, Head of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, is participating in the international event.

At its annual sessions in Geneva, the Executive Committee of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees discusses ways to improve the organisation’s programmes, ensure international protection and address other important issues related to refugees. These meetings bring together representatives of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, intergovernmental organisations and non-governmental partners.

The participation of the Turkmen delegation in this international meeting reflects the importance Turkmenistan attaches to migration issues and international humanitarian cooperation. It also forms part of the country’s efforts to develop international cooperation in the field of migration and put humanitarian principles into practice.

The 77th session of the Executive Committee of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees will continue until 16 October 2026.
