In 2028, the city of Los Angeles in the US state of California will host the XXXIV Summer Olympic Games, one of the world's major sporting events. Turkmenistan is among the countries preparing to participate in this major international competition. Athletes of the national teams are carrying out targeted preparations in various sports.

According to the "Türkmen sporty" newspaper, Turkmen athletes are continuing their training in disciplines such as track and field, weightlifting, boxing, judo, swimming, para powerlifting, and freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. Enhancing the skills of athletes, increasing their international experience, and improving their level of preparation are among the key tasks for achieving high results at the upcoming Olympic Games.

Los Angeles for the third time in Olympic history

The XXXIV Summer Olympic Games will be held from July 14 to 30, 2028. The Summer Paralympic Games will be organized from August 15 to 27.

The city of Los Angeles has already hosted the Olympic Games twice — in 1932 and 1984. Thus, following the 2028 competitions, the city will join London and Paris as cities that have hosted the Olympic Games three times.

It is expected that the Olympic Games held in Los Angeles, known as the center of world cinema, will, alongside sports competitions, become an international festival strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and cooperation among different peoples.

Existing sports facilities will be utilized

One of the important features of LA 2028 will be the effective use of already existing sports facilities in the city to host the Games. It is planned to use pre-existing stadiums and other sports infrastructure for most of the competitions, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.

The construction of temporary facilities is expected only in exceptional cases. Such an approach will be of great importance in terms of reducing construction costs, saving natural resources, and minimizing the environmental impact of the Olympic Games.

In addition, solutions involving the use of renewable energy sources for the energy supply of the competitions are envisioned. This aligns with the goal of holding LA 2028 as one of the most sustainable and environmentally efficient Olympic Games.

New sports added to the Olympic program

The sports program of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles will also feature innovations. A number of disciplines have been included to increase fans' interest and widely promote new sports directions globally.

Among them, flag football and squash will be featured at the Olympic Games for the first time. In addition, cricket, baseball, softball, and lacrosse will take their place in the LA 2028 competition program.

The inclusion of new sports, alongside expanding the scope of the Olympic movement, will provide an opportunity for athletes from various countries to showcase their abilities on the world's largest sports stage.

Great goals lie ahead for Turkmen athletes

In Turkmenistan, work continues to develop the sports sector, create modern training conditions, and expand necessary opportunities for national teams to perform successfully at international competitions.

During the preparation period for the LA 2028 Olympic Games, it will be of great importance for Turkmen athletes to gain international experience at international tournaments, perform in competitions of various levels, and enhance their proficiency.

The Olympic Games in Los Angeles will bring together the world's strongest athletes. The athletes of Turkmenistan's national teams will also strive to participate in this grand sports celebration with high preparation and worthily defend the sports prestige of our country.
