Tyumen State University attaches particular importance to developing cooperation with higher education institutions and research centers in Turkmenistan. This was stated by Andrey Tolstikov, Vice-Rector of the university, during his participation in the international exhibition and scientific conference entitled “Healthcare, Education and Sport in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State,” held in Ashgabat.
The international forum, held in the capital of Turkmenistan, served as an important platform for discussing achievements in healthcare, science and education, introducing modern scientific developments, and strengthening cooperation with scientific and educational centers in foreign countries.
According to Andrey Tolstikov, Turkmenistan is of considerable interest for the scientific research conducted by Tyumen State University. Over the past decade, scientists from this university, one of Russia’s leading research centers for the study of biodiversity, have scientifically described more than 1,700 new species of living organisms in various regions of the world, including Turkmenistan.
Tyumen State University has a long history of cooperation with educational institutions in Turkmenistan. Particular attention is being paid to developing academic ties with higher education institutions in the city of Turkmenabat. During his visit, Andrey Tolstikov also visited the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, where new academic building complexes have recently been commissioned.
The parties intend to further expand the scope of their cooperation. Planned areas include establishing student and faculty exchange programs, training specialists in various professional fields and upgrading their qualifications, organizing scientific and practical conferences and forums, and conducting joint research projects.
One of the key areas of cooperation is the introduction of modern technologies into the education system. According to Andrey Tolstikov, Tyumen State University is ready to share its experience in using artificial intelligence in education with its Turkmen partners.
The parties are also considering joint initiatives in promising fields such as bioeconomy, based on biodiversity conservation and the rational use of natural resources, as well as modern pedagogy that incorporates artificial intelligence tools.
Tyumen State University is one of the major Russian higher education institutions attended by citizens of Turkmenistan. Currently, 1,018 Turkmen citizens are studying at the university. This figure reflects the scale of educational ties between the two countries.
Expanding cooperation in vocational education, scientific knowledge exchange, and the introduction of innovative technologies is aimed at strengthening ties between higher education institutions in Turkmenistan and Russia, improving the training of young professionals, and creating new opportunities for joint scientific research.
