In 2026, approximately 72,000 tonnes of oil were delivered to Uzbekistan in transit through Turkmenistan. The oil is transported by sea and rail to the Bukhara Oil Refinery, one of Uzbekistan’s major oil-processing facilities.
According to Sputnik Uzbekistan, this was announced by Rustam Rejepov, Head of the Trade and Marketing Department of Turkmenistan’s closed joint-stock company Deniz Söwda Floty (Sea Merchant Fleet), while discussing the organization of transport and logistics operations.
He explained that the oil is first transported by sea to Turkmenistan’s international seaport. The crude oil is then loaded into specialized railway tank cars, and the trains are dispatched to the Bukhara Oil Refinery.
Thus, Turkmenistan serves as an important transit corridor for transporting energy raw materials to Uzbekistan. The coordinated use of the country’s maritime and railway infrastructure enables the efficient delivery of oil to its destination.
