The sowing of winter wheat for the 2027 harvest has begun in Turkmenistan. The official start of the sowing season was set for September 2, with ceremonial events held across the regions to mark the launch of this vital agricultural campaign.

The sowing started based on the blessing given by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting held on August 28. Workshops involving experienced farmers, relevant specialists, scientists, and machine operators were organized locally to ensure the work is carried out timely and with high quality in accordance with agro-technical standards.

According to the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan "On Producing a Bountiful Wheat Harvest in Turkmenistan in 2027," it is planned to sow winter wheat on 690,000 hectares of land across all regions of the country for the new harvest.

Next year, the country plans to produce a total of 1.4 million tons of wheat. This includes 400,000 tons in Ahal Velayat, 80,000 tons in Balkan Velayat, 265,000 tons in Dashoguz Velayat, 310,000 tons in Lebap Velayat, and 345,000 tons in Mary Velayat.

Alongside high-yielding varieties, the sowing plans include the use of varieties such as "Serdar," "Arkadag," and "Pyraty," developed by the Grain Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan.

Conducting the wheat sowing at a high level aims to establish a solid foundation for next year's harvest. Currently, respective measures are underway locally to carry out sowing operations in compliance with agro-technical requirements.
