President of Turkmenistan Pardons Over 230 People for the International Day of Neutrality

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree pardoning 231 convicted citizens ahead of the upcoming International Day of Neutrality on December 12. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The decision was made during an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers attended by heads of Turkmenistan’s diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad, as well as representatives of the country at international organizations. The meeting addressed priority issues of the foreign policy of the neutral state.

The head of state warmly congratulated the participants and the entire Turkmen nation on the glorious 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. A report on the results of the work carried out on pardons was delivered by Secretary of the State Security Council, Chairman of the Commission for Preparing Proposals on Citizenship and Pardons under the President of Turkmenistan, Begench Gundogdyev.

“After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, following this noble tradition, signed a decree pardoning 231 citizens on the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality,” the agency stated.

The President instructed the Chairman of the Commission, together with law enforcement officials, to take the necessary measures to ensure the prompt return of all released individuals to their families. Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished the pardoned citizens honest work and faithful service to the Motherland.
