Turkmen sambo athletes win eight medals at the World Championships
Turkmen athletes achieved great success at the World Sambo Championship, held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Our athletes earned a total of eight medals.
In sports sambo, Guwanch Begaliyev became the world’s silver medalist in the under 98 kg weight category.
In women’s combat sambo, Madina Aydogdiyeva (up to 54 kg) won silver, and Zyba Orunova (65 kg) took bronze. In the over 80 kg category, Sabina Agajanova also secured second place.
Among men in combat sambo, Hakberdi Jumayev (58 kg) and Muminjan Arzikulov (71 kg) claimed silver medals, while Abdylla Nazargeldiyev (88 kg) and Bezirgen Begenjov (98 kg) won bronze medals.
The total prize fund of the championship held in Bishkek was 341,000 USD. Gold medalists received $4,000, silver medalists $3,000, and bronze medalists $2,000 each.
