Turkmenabat International Airport: A Hub Connecting with the World
Every time a plane takes off, one thinks: “How lucky the birds are! They can see all the beauty of the Earth at once from above.” From flights departing Ashgabat, Balkanabat, or Dashoguz, it is impossible to admire the views of Turkmenabat or Kerki without amazement.
Both cities welcome guests with their unique charm, calling out: “Welcome to Lebap!” Today, the international airports of these cities are open not only to domestic travelers but also to international flights.
As known, the new complex of Turkmenabat International Airport was opened at the end of 2018, and the modern buildings of Kerki International Airport were inaugurated at the end of 2021. Since then, both airports have become symbols of peace, friendship, and cooperation.
These airports serve foreign airlines operating in Turkmenistan’s airspace, helping safely transport passengers and cargo across the country. Together, they can serve up to 600 passengers per hour. The international airports cooperate with Flight Consulting Group, providing services to various airlines worldwide.
In previous years, the airports served companies from the UAE («Click Aviation Network DMCC», «Jetex», «Cargo Air Chartering»), Tajikistan («Somon Air»), Germany («Aerologic»), Russia («Air Sitotrans»), Belarus («Eada Aviation»), Egypt («Global Transport Services»), and others. Today, Turkmenabat International Airport serves aircraft of Georgian airlines («Georgian Airlines», «Airline Geosky») and Turkish «MNG Airlines».
Within the framework of international cooperation, the State Service «Türkmenhowaýollary» allows passengers to purchase tickets for flights of many international airlines. Citizens seeking tickets for «S7» (Russia), «Fly Dubai», «Emirates» (UAE), or «Turkish Airlines» (Turkey) can apply directly at the airport in the regional center.
It is worth noting that the new airport complex meets ICAO international standards and its certification has been confirmed by Munich Airport (Germany).
In summary, Lebap’s air gates not only bring airports closer together but also serve as a hub connecting the country to the world and strengthening international relations.
