Turkmenistan demonstrates the best customs clearance time in the region
A new study conducted by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) has confirmed the exceptional efficiency of the road customs checkpoints of Turkmenistan, which demonstrate the fastest processing times for export and transit cargo among Central Asian countries.
According to data covering the period from August to October of this year, the average vehicle clearance time at key checkpoints in Garabogaz, Farap and Dashoguz was just 37 minutes. This is significantly faster than in neighboring countries, where the same procedure takes between 1 hour 10 minutes (Uzbekistan) and 1 hour 44 minutes (Kyrgyzstan). In Kazakhstan, the same time is 1 hour 30 minutes and in Tajikistan, 1 hour 40 minutes.
Furthermore, Turkmen checkpoints demonstrated exceptional efficiency in reducing congestion: the average wait time in line was up to 35 minutes. By comparison, in Kyrgyzstan it's 40 minutes, in Tajikistan it's 1 hour 15 minutes, in Uzbekistan it's 12 hours 20 minutes and in Kazakhstan, freight carriers have to wait more than two days.
These data, provided on the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, confirm the growing role of the country as a reliable and fast transit bridge between Asia and Europe, which is critical for the development of international logistics corridors.
