Turkmenistan’s Mobile Market: Most Popular Phones and New Statistics
In recent years, Turkmenistan’s mobile communications market has grown rapidly alongside technological progress and the expansion of digital services. According to data from the international analytics platform StatCounter for September 2025, Samsung remains the leading mobile phone brand among users in the country.
Statistics show that Samsung holds about 47.5% of Turkmenistan’s mobile market share. This dominance is attributed to the company’s wide service network and the affordability of its various models. The Galaxy A series, in particular, is highly popular among users across both urban and rural areas.
Apple ranks second, with a market share of around 22.5%. iPhone models are especially favored by young people and those deeply interested in technology. Apple’s strong security features and integrated service ecosystem make it a premium choice among consumers.
In third place is Xiaomi, holding 22.3% of the market. The Chinese brand has gained popularity in Turkmenistan by offering affordable yet high-performing devices. Models such as the Redmi Note and Poco series are among the best-selling smartphones.
Other brands such as Huawei, Realme, and Tecno occupy smaller portions of the market. However, in recent years, these companies have also started competing more actively for market share.
According to DataReportal, at the beginning of 2025 there were more than 5.14 million registered mobile connections in Turkmenistan — a clear indicator of widespread mobile internet usage across the country.
Within the framework of state programs to develop the digital economy, the “Turkmenaragatnashyk” Agency is implementing new infrastructure projects. 4G networks are already active in all provinces, and the introduction of 5G technology is planned for the near future. This development is expected to stimulate smartphone upgrades and further market expansion.
Technology analyst Dovletmyrat Allanazarov commented:
“Turkmenistan’s smartphone market has grown rapidly over the past three years. Interest in online services, electronic payments, and social platforms has significantly increased among the population, driving demand for mobile phones.”
According to him, Samsung and Xiaomi maintain stable user bases through their focus on the mid-range segment, while Apple targets the premium market.
At present, Turkmenistan’s mobile market is primarily divided among three leading brands — Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi. The steady pace of market growth reflects the successful implementation of the country’s digitalization programs. With the ongoing expansion of internet services and the adoption of new technologies, these market shares may shift in the coming years.
