Users are increasingly switching to Windows 11

According to data from StatCounter, as of October 2025, Windows 11 holds over 55% of the global PC market.

The main reason for this growth is Microsoft’s decision to end official support for Windows 10, prompting both personal and corporate users to upgrade to the newer system.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Windows 11 – 55.18%

  • Windows 10 – 41.71%

  • Windows 7 – 2.52%

  • Windows 8/8.1 – 0.34%

  • Windows XP – 0.22%

Microsoft has stopped providing security updates and technical support for Windows 10. Users whose devices don’t meet Windows 11 requirements can join a paid extended support program or purchase a new PC.

As a result, Windows 11 has become the most widely used operating system in the world.
