South Korean scientists developed the AGCL spray that stops bleeding in one second by turning into a gel and instantly sealing the wound.
Scientists from South Korea have developed an innovative powder spray that instantly turns into a gel upon contact with blood, shaping itself to the wound. The product is designed for treating soldiers in combat and emergency medical situations.
The spray consists of three natural ingredients: alginate from brown seaweed, gellan gum, and chitosan. Upon contact with blood, it quickly forms a gel that binds blood cells and stops bleeding immediately.
Tests on mice demonstrated its effectiveness on deep and irregular wounds while supporting tissue regeneration. The powder is also antibacterial and can be used in surgery.
