Turkmenistan and CNPC mark 20 years of cooperation in the gas sector. Over 460 bcm of gas has been supplied to China, strengthening regional energy security.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of energy cooperation between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China, Du Zhuming, General Manager of the Turkmenistan branch of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC International Ltd), sent a congratulatory letter to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
As noted in the message, over the past two decades, the relationship between the two parties has become a model of world-class strategic partnership. This cooperation is based not only on economic benefits but also on firm trust and a long-term development strategy. The head of CNPC specifically emphasized that participation in the development of the "Galkynysh" field—one of the world's largest gas fields—represented a new stage in increasing Turkmenistan's energy potential.
The effectiveness of Turkmen-Chinese cooperation can be seen through specific figures. Since the Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline was commissioned in 2009:
- The total volume of Turkmen natural gas delivered to China reached 460 billion cubic meters as of March 1, 2026.
This indicator confirms Turkmenistan's reliable position in the global energy market and its role as the primary source of "blue fuel" for China's growing economy. Earlier, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced that the fourth phase of the "Galkynysh" gas field development—a historical project of great importance—would be launched in the coming days.
