Turkmenistan’s Mejlis Concludes Results of the First Quarter of 2026

Turkmenistan’s Mejlis summed up the results of Q1 2026. Priorities include improving legislation, protecting citizens’ rights, and boosting international cooperation.
A meeting was held in the Mejlis of Turkmenistan dedicated to the results of the work completed in January-March of the year "Independent, Eternally Neutral Turkmenistan — Homeland of Goal-Oriented Steeds." During the meeting, measures implemented to improve national legislation were discussed, and forthcoming priority tasks were identified.
In accordance with the instructions of the Honorable President Arkadagly Serdar, an assessment was made of the work carried out to prepare new draft laws and to bring existing regulatory acts in line with universally recognized norms of international law. During the reporting period, active work was conducted by the working groups of the Mejlis in cooperation with relevant ministries in the following areas:
- Protection of the rights and legal interests of citizens;
- Ensuring industrial safety of production facilities;
- Modernization of financial reporting and accounting;
- Development of entrepreneurship and environmental protection;
- Increasing the efficiency of migration and customs services.
Furthermore, the high organizational level of the elections held on March 29 was noted. Representatives of the Mejlis, together with the Central Election Commission, political parties, and public organizations, performed significant work in explaining election legislation and providing organizational and methodological assistance.
Parliamentarians emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in developing international cooperation and communicating Turkmenistan's peace-loving policy to the global community. Also, organizing the events planned for the glorious 35th anniversary of the country’s Sacred Independence at a high level was highlighted as a primary task.
