Constitution and State Flag Day of Turkmenistan: A Symbol of Unity and Progress

Every year on May 18, Turkmenistan celebrates two sacred values of our statehood with great solemnity — the Basic Law and the State Flag. These dates are a vivid expression of our people's unity, peace-loving nature, and confidence in a happy future. The Constitution of Turkmenistan forms the basis of the national legal system and democratic development in our country. Our Basic Law, improved through reforms in 2008, 2016, and 2020, promotes the principle "The State is for the Human Being!". - Highest Value: According to Article 4 of the Constitution, the highest value of the state is the human being. - Neutrality: The legal status of Turkmenistan's permanent Neutrality is enshrined in the Basic Law, giving legal force to our country's peace-making initiatives. - Rule of Law: The rule of law and the unity of society and authority are ensured. The green Banner of Turkmenistan symbolizes the glory, dignity, and unity of our people in the world. Five ancient carpet guls, a crescent moon, five stars, and olive branches — a symbol of peace — demonstrate the harmony between the past and the future. - Centers of Patriotism: High flagpoles erected in Ashgabat, provincial centers, and the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone are considered centers of patriotism. - Celebrations: On the occasion of the holiday, solemn marches, festive concerts, and scientific-practical conferences are held in all corners of the country. - International Participation: Diplomatic representatives accredited in our country and representatives of international organizations also participate in the celebrations, further increasing the international significance of this date.
