Astrakhan Region and Turkmenistan Aim to Develop Cooperation Between Shipbuilding Enterprises

Cooperation between Astrakhan Oblast and Turkmenistan continues to expand. In 2025, cargo turnover increased by 38%. The sides agreed to enhance collaboration within the North–South International Transport Corridor, strengthen ties between Astrakhan ports and the Turkmenbashi Port, and develop cooperation in shipbuilding and ship repair.
A working meeting was held between the Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan, Gadam Ilamanov, and the Minister of External Relations of the Astrakhan Region, Vladimir Golovkov. The parties noted that 2025 was a year of strengthening productive relations between the Astrakhan region and Turkmenistan.
"The trade turnover of the Astrakhan region with Turkmenistan increased by 38% by the end of 2025," Vladimir Golovkov stated. "Supplies of fish products to Turkmenistan increased fourfold, while the volume of wheat flour exports grew more than threefold."
The parties focused on intensifying joint work to develop the "North-South" international transport corridor, continuing cooperation between the ports of the Astrakhan region and the port of Turkmenbashi, and issues concerning the cooperation of shipbuilding and ship repair enterprises, according to the press service of the Astrakhan region government.
