Turkmenistan’s Parliament members joined an interparliamentary dialogue in Tashkent 🌱 Circular economy, green development, and environmental initiatives were highlighted.
On April 9–10, 2026, Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan, became the venue for the third regional inter-parliamentary dialogue dedicated to one of the critical issues of sustainable development—the development of a circular economy. Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan actively participated in this event, organized under the European Union's "SWITCH-Asia" Program, and shared the country's leading experience in this field.
As noted during the dialogue, a circular economy is not just an economic model, but an essential tool for protecting the environment and using natural resources efficiently. In their speech, the representative of Turkmenistan emphasized that "green economy" principles have become one of the priority areas of state policy.
Key areas highlighted in the speech:
- Legislative Framework: Regulatory legal acts adopted during the years of independence to strengthen environmental well-being and nature protection.
- Innovative Investments: A strategy for attracting investments to introduce modern and harmless technologies into the economy.
- Environmental Responsibility: Reducing waste and emissions, and organizing the production cycle according to recycling principles.
During the session titled "National Progress on Circular Economy in Central Asia," participants reviewed the achievements and future plans of the regional countries. The Turkmen representatives noted that the large-scale environmental programs implemented in the country align not only with national interests but also with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This third regional dialogue held in Tashkent helped strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of Central Asian countries and created a unified platform for solving common environmental issues.
