For the first time, signatures of current President Donald Trump and industry leader Scott Bessent will appear on US banknotes. This marks the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The United States Department of the Treasury has announced its intention to feature the signatures of President Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on national currency banknotes in honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
According to a report by the "Report" agency, citing the US Treasury, this will be the first instance in the country's history where the signature of a sitting head of state is placed on official banknotes.
According to the Secretary, placing Trump's signature on the national currency is "not only appropriate but fully deserved," considering his place in the country's history as the "architect of the golden age of US economic revival."
The Declaration of Independence, approved in 1776, symbolized the liberation of the United States from the rule of the British Empire. The document was approved by Congress on July 2, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Two days later, Congress approved the edited version of the declaration and ordered it to be printed and distributed to the public. Therefore, July 4 is considered the founding day of the United States.
