On April 14, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to our country, Martin Brook. During the meeting, the newly appointed diplomat presented copies of his credentials.
Minister Rashid Meredov congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to the responsible post and wished him success in further developing diplomatic relations between the two states. Ambassador Martin Brook expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized that he would make every effort to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthen friendly ties.
During the talks, the parties noted that high-level meetings serve as an important impetus for bilateral relations. In this regard, the strategic significance of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Italy in October 2025 was specially highlighted.
The sides discussed the current state of trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was paid to the following issues:
- International Cooperation: Continuing effective interaction within the framework of the UN;
- Culture: The great importance of the archaeological exhibition titled "Ancient Civilizations of Turkmenistan" organized in Rome last year;
- Business: Continuing the practice of holding regular forums with the participation of the business communities of both countries.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the Turkmen-Italian dialogue would continue to develop consistently.
