The Ashgabat–Turkmenabat high-speed highway is now fully operational. Stretching 600 km, it connects regions and boosts international transit corridors, driving economic growth and logistics efficiency.
Construction of the Ashgabat — Turkmenabat high-speed motorway, one of the largest projects in Turkmenistan's transport and logistics strategy, has been completed. Yesterday, with the participation of Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Mary — Turkmenabat section, the final part of the road, was ceremoniously opened. The full commissioning of this modern 600-kilometer motorway opens a new era in connecting the country's regions with the capital and increasing the efficiency of international transit corridors.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, the Head of State drew attention to not only the economic but also the historical significance of this road. This autobahn, a continuation of our ancestors' noble traditions of building roads and bridges, is an essential part of reviving the ancient Great Silk Road in a modern way.
- The construction, which began in 2019 with the blessing of Hero Arkadag, was completed with high quality by Turkmen entrepreneurs.
- Following the Ashgabat — Tejen (2021) and Tejen — Mary (2024) stages, the opening of the Mary — Turkmenabat section has turned the entire road into a unified system.
International Standards and High-Quality Certificates The new road consists of 6 lanes and is equipped with the world's most advanced technologies. During the ceremony, international experts and representatives of major companies highly praised the project:
- The French company "Grenobloise d’Electronique et d’Automatises" confirmed that the video surveillance, cybersecurity, and payment systems comply with international ISO standards (9001, 27001, 14001, 10012).
- The Chinese company "Shandong Jiangfeng New Material Technology" presented certificates stating that the road barriers comply with international safety standards (EN1317).
Digital Systems and Passenger Comfort All conditions for drivers and passengers have been considered along the autobahn:
- Intellectual management: Continuous video surveillance and systems that automatically record traffic flow.
- Modern infrastructure: Filling stations, technical service points, rest areas, and retail shops.
- Engineering structures: Numerous bridges, underground and overground crossings ensure the highest level of traffic safety.
With the blessing of the Honorable President, the first trucks and a wedding convoy set off on the new road. This motorway will accelerate trade turnover between the Ahal, Mary, and Lebap regions, reduce the cost of logistics services, and create thousands of new jobs.
