Turkmen-Chinese cooperation is reaching new heights, with energy, transport, trade, and digital technologies as key pillars.
Currently, relations between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China are undergoing a new historical era. Cooperation between the two countries is based not only on economic interests but also on centuries-old roots of friendship and mutual trust. Regular visits by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Honorable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to China further strengthen the strategic nature of these relations.
The most important feature of the cooperation between the two states is the full alignment of Turkmenistan’s "Revival of the Great Silk Road" strategy with China’s "Belt and Road" initiative. This harmony is aimed at ensuring sustainable economic development and security not only for the two countries but also across the entire Eurasian space.
Main Areas of Cooperation:
- Energy: Energy partnership is the core of economic relations. The Turkmenistan-China transnational gas pipeline, launched in 2009, has become the largest guarantee of energy security in the Asian region.
- Transport and Logistics: New logistical chains connecting East and West are being created. The capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport open convenient routes for Chinese trade turnover.
- Trade and Entrepreneurship: China is one of Turkmenistan's largest investment partners. In recent years, private sector companies such as "Datly şerbet," "Bagdan," and "Altyn ýunus" have begun exporting their products to the massive Chinese market.
- Digitalization and Technology: Active cooperation is underway with leading Chinese companies on the "Smart City" concept and IT technologies.
- Agriculture: China's water-saving drip irrigation technologies and expertise in increasing crop yields are being widely implemented in our country's agriculture.
