Modernization of Turkmenbashy International Seaport Discussed

Modernization of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport was discussed by the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme. The parties reviewed digitalization efforts, TOS upgrade and the introduction of the Maritime Single Window (MSW).
During a meeting, representatives of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and Narine Sahakyan, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan, discussed cooperation opportunities for the modernization of the Turkmenbashy International Seaport as a vital link in the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
Specifically, the meeting addressed issues of interaction regarding the simplification of trade operations and the implementation of modern digital systems. According to the Conceptual Note presented by the UNDP, special attention was paid to improving the existing Terminal Operating System (TOS) and implementing the "Maritime Single Window" (MSW) system, as reported by the website tmrl.gov.tm.
The significance of the port's ISO-14001 and "Ecoport" certificates was also noted, and new proposals were put forward to further enhance international environmental standards.
Representatives of the state service reported that these initiatives and projects will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for consideration.
