Turkmenistan’s figure skating championship took place in Ashgabat, highlighting young talents and their preparation for the 2027 Children of Asia Games.
The Turkmenistan Figure Skating Championship, held at the Winter Sports Complex in Ashgabat, has become a significant event in the country's sporting life. This competition, featuring 19 young athletes, not only showcased results but also clearly demonstrated the strategic development path of winter sports in Turkmenistan.
The competitions were divided into several groups based on technical complexity:
- Basic Level: Maria Vyzhlakova, Veronika Ovezova, and Melisa Yuje showed the best results here.
- Novice and Intermediate: Among young professionals and experienced teenagers, talents such as Aylar Ekayeva, Mahrijemal Rozyyeva, and Leyla Gaylyyeva stood out.
- Among Boys: Rahman Hojamkulyyev stood out for his ability to perform complex elements.
The results of the tournament can be analyzed in the following key areas:
- Certified Coaching School: The work of the national team coach, Ilina Karimova, deserves special mention. As a graduate of the BMG University of Physical Education, she has been implementing international methodologies since 2019. This enhances not only the athletes' "artistry" but also their technical prowess in line with international standards.
- Infrastructure and State Support: As noted by participants and experts, Ashgabat's modern ice rinks fully meet international standards. This creates a foundation for high-performance sports in a region not typically associated with winter sports.
- International Integration (Krasnoyarsk-2027): The main goal for today's athletes is the "Children of Asia" International Games to be held in 2027. Turkmenistan's early and systematic preparation for these games is proof that national sports are ready to reach the world level.
