Turkmenistan Becomes a Key Link in the New China — Afghanistan Multimodal Transport Route

A new historical step has been taken in expanding the transport and logistics potential of the region. The new China — Afghanistan multimodal transport corridor, transiting through the territory of Turkmenistan, has been officially launched. This was reported by the press service of the "Balkan" Shipbuilding and Repair Yard" Open Joint Stock Company. The speed and convenience of cargo delivery are among the main features of the new route. A container train manages to cover the distance of approximately 7,400 kilometers in an average of 30 days. This indicator creates significant conditions for increasing the efficiency of logistics operations in the region and delivering goods to their destination in a short time. This corridor involves the coordinated operation of rail and road infrastructure: - First stage: Cargo is sent from China by rail through the "Altynkol" station in Kazakhstan. - Second stage: The cargo caravan passes through the territory of Uzbekistan to the logistics center in Bukhara. - Third stage: Here, containers are transferred to trucks and transit through the territory of Turkmenistan. - Final point: The goods are delivered to the city of Herat, Afghanistan. Turkmenistan's involvement in this new multimodal route further strengthens the country's role as a strategic corridor connecting East and West, North and South. This project will not only aid in the economic recovery of Afghanistan but also provide an impetus for raising interregional trade relations to a new level.
