On April 3, 2026, the 109th meeting of the Economic Council of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in the capital of the Russian Federation. A delegation led by Perhat Yagsyyev, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, participated in this meeting, where crucial economic issues were discussed.
New Areas of Cooperation During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state and promising areas for the development of trade and economic relations within the Commonwealth. Focus was directed toward the following key issues:
- Economic Integration: Increasing trade turnover between member states and supporting investment projects.
- Documentary Framework: Within the framework of the meeting, the heads of delegations reviewed draft documents intended to strengthen the legal basis of future cooperation and adopted relevant decisions.
- Regional Interests: The delegation of Turkmenistan reaffirmed the country's commitment to economic initiatives within the CIS and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Future Plans To maintain the momentum of cooperation, the members of the CIS Economic Council determined the timing of the next meeting. The 110th meeting of the Council is planned to be held in June 2026, also in Moscow.
This meeting once again proved that the member states, including Turkmenistan, play a significant role in ensuring sustainable economic growth in the region and strengthening neighborly relations.
