Women — The Source of Peace and Development: Important Issues Discussed in the Mejlis

Key issues were discussed at the first meeting of the Central Asian Women Leaders’ Dialogue. The focus was on strengthening women’s role in peace, development, and society.
Today, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in the first meeting of the Caucus of Women Leaders of Central Asian States, held via direct video link. This historic event has become a new platform for women leaders across the region to discuss pressing contemporary issues and find positive solutions.
The meeting, held under the leadership of the Parliament of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was titled "Women of Central Asia: Priority Tasks and Joint Actions." The following representatives of international organizations and states attended the online conference:
- The Head of the United Nations (UN) Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia;
- Women parliamentary leaders from Central Asian states and the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- The Head of the UN Women Regional Office for Central Asia.
During the session, participants highly valued the role of women in strengthening peace and stability in the region. Exchanges of views took place in the following key areas:
- Public Administration and Economy: Supporting the active participation of women in state affairs and economic growth.
- Gender Equality: Sharing experiences on expanding the rights and opportunities of women in the region.
- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Increasing the contribution of women to achieving global development targets.
- 2026 Action Plan: The organization of socio-cultural and political events throughout the year under Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the Dialogue.
By actively participating in the initiatives put forward within this Dialogue, Turkmenistan promotes its national strategy at the international level to honor the dignity of women and strengthen their role in state and social life.
