Educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and Egypt is entering a new stage. Plans include study opportunities for Turkmen students at Egyptian universities, short-term Arabic language programs, and joint research projects in AI and modern technologies.
A meeting held on April 28, 2026, between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, J. Gurbangeldiyev, and the newly appointed Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Hamdy Shaaban Abdelhalim Mohamed, has paved the way for new initiatives in the educational relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, several proposals were put forward regarding the exchange of experience for both students and teachers:
- Study Placements: It is planned to offer dedicated spots for Turkmen students to receive education in Egypt’s higher education institutions.
- Short-term Courses: Short-term training programs in Egypt will be organized for students majoring in Arabic language and international relations.
- Joint Research: Collaborative research in modern technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) between the science and education centers of both nations was discussed.
The Egyptian side proposed organizing video conference meetings to establish direct links between the respective Ministries of Education and leading universities. These steps are expected to strengthen the legal framework for cooperation and lead to the signing of new bilateral documents.
The ongoing reforms in Turkmenistan’s education system, particularly in enhancing the teaching of exact sciences and foreign languages, drew significant interest from the Egyptian representatives. Both parties confirmed their readiness to regularly host international seminars and forums.
