On April 14, 2026, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Mahri Bashimova, held a meeting with Yegor Zaitsev, the Head of the Country Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Ashgabat. The core of the talks focused on the results of long-standing cooperation and new joint projects.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the outcomes of the High-Level Dialogue on Global Health Diplomacy held in Ashgabat in February this year. It was emphasized that this forum was a significant step in advancing Turkmenistan's health initiatives at the regional and international levels.
The parties discussed the events and projects planned for implementation during 2026. Expressing satisfaction with the current state of cooperation, the following areas for improving the healthcare system were identified:
- Systematic implementation of joint initiatives and national programs;
- Strengthening cooperation in the implementation of WHO expertise and international standards;
- Organizing activities aimed at enhancing professional expertise in the healthcare system.
At the end of the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to further develop mutually beneficial relations and maintain a regular dialogue.
